2011 NESTOR YANGA PHYSICIAN
OF THE YEAR AWARD

Dr. Vivien Brown with the
Nestor Yanga Physician
of the Year Award
at MDMS 2011.
Dr. Brown is a family physician in Toronto, who
was educated at McGill University, where she
studied internal medicine as well as family
practice. Certified by the College of Family
Physicians of Canada (CFPC) in 1986, she has
served as an examiner for the College, helping to
maintain a high academic standard of care, and is
now a Fellow of the CFPC.
Dr. Brown is renowned on issues of Women’s Health
such as HPV vaccination and preventative medicine,
Adult Immunization, and is recognized as a
certified menopause clinician by the North
American Menopause Society (NAMS). She serves on
the NAMS Consumer Education Committee, promoting
and teaching Women’s Health among professional
peers and the community.
An award-winning educator, Dr. Brown was
previously a staff physician at the University of
Toronto Health Service and supervised residents
for The Toronto Hospital and McMaster University
Hospital in Hamilton. Currently, she is on staff
at Mt. Sinai Hospital, The University Health
Network and North York General Hospital in
Toronto. She continues to teach medical students
at Mt. Sinai Hospital and frequently lectures
nationally and internationally on preventative
medicine.

The Nestor Yanga
Physician of the Year Award is presented annually
at KMH’s Medical Disease Management Symposium to
honour a physician-peer for his/her dedication,
professional skills and excellence in patient
care.
